Have you ever seen someone you admire attend a specific event, and wonder just how much interest they have in the subject matter? Like if Shenae was to attend Madrid Fashion Week, would you sit in your room pondering her lifestyle, and wonder just how much of her time is occupied by fashion? Or how often she visits Spain for that matter?
I had this thought recently when Shenae joined her fiancé to attend the 2013 LA Lakers Casino Night in March. How good would she be at casino games? It’s a question which is bound to be asked by fans now that we know she has at least been to a function which was designed to allow the celebrities in attendance to play these types of games. Would she be good at Blackjack, making sure her cards don’t go over the value of 21? Or perhaps she plays poker on websites like partypoker.es/ when she’s in Spain, and took an interest in the poker tournament which took place at the Lakers Casino Night.
Would she be good at playing poker? She’s an actress, and not an unintelligent one, so I’m sure with the right guidance and her sharp mind she could definitely be a good contender. I mean, don’t poker games require acting skills? You always hear about the dreaded poker face, and how the professionals have crafted perfect expressions and reactions over the years to be unleashed at the right times. Shenae knows all about timing, and making sure a certain emotional reaction comes across, so entering a poker tournament, especially one in aid of a foundation or charity, would be a very handy acting exercise for her. And if she were to do it in a foreign country, say keeping with the example of Spain, it would add an extra level of challenge. How well can she portray a character in a real-life setting?
Quite well I’d imagine. And if her acting prowess failed her, she might have an advantage in the attractive stakes, distracting the men, even if she’d taken a vacation to Spain and was playing on a yacht in the Mediterranean Sea.
How good do you guys think she’d be at casino games?

Shenae Grimes and Josh Beech are eager to start the next chapter of their lives together. The engaged couple spoke to Us Weekly about their upcoming nuptials at the boohoo U.S. launch party in New York City March 21.
“We have started planning the wedding,” 90210 star Grimes revealed. “It’ll be small — close friends and family,” added Beech, who runs the fashion and accessories line Cut & Run London. Until they actually tie the knot, however, the future spouses are keeping specific details about their big day private. “We’re keeping it close,” Beech explained. “We’re not sharing details.”
Grimes’ love life isn’t the only thing that’s about to change. With 90210 ending its five-season run in May, the 23-year-old is looking to explore other career opportunities as well.
“I’m going to delve into things I’ve been kind of exploring for the past couple of years in the fashion world,” said the star, who previously interned for Teen Vogue and Canada’s Fashion Television. “I’m going to do that more heavily. And [Josh and I] really want to collaborate on more things in the future. We’re starting to plant those seeds now.”
In their downtime, Grimes and Beech said they watch episodes of Glee and fantasize about what it would be like to be on the FOX show. “Every time we sit in the car, we’re like listening to their songs,” the actress giggled. “And then we just look at each other and we’re like, ‘We should be in a musical!’”
“Not every time,” Beech joked. “Don’t believe that!”
Grimes and her 25-year-old beau have become inseparable since they met about a year ago. “I used to work out religiously and do yoga all the time. I have not worked out since I met him, basically,” she told Us. “I’m like, ‘I don’t want to go to the gym when I can hang out with you!’”
Start looking for a new zip code to call home on Monday nights, 90210 fans. The ’90s reboot will air its final episode ever in May.
Due to less-than-stellar ratings, the CW has canceled the teen drama after five seasons. The show will wrap up its run with a series finale on May 13.
“The CW has had five great seasons with America’s favorite zip code, 90210,” CW network president Mark Pedowitz announced in a statement. “I’d like to thank the talented cast, producers, and crew for all their hard work and dedication to the series. We are very proud of the West Beverly High alumni.”
90210, the fourth series in the Beverly Hills, 90210 franchise from the 1990s, premiered to great expectations in 2008. It stars AnnaLynne McCord, Shenae Grimes, Matt Lanter, Jessica Stroup, and Jessica Lowndes, among others. (Beverly Hills, 90210 alum Jennie Garth appeared in Seasons 1 and 2 to help launch the series but was later written out.)
Lanter, who plays bad boy Liam Court on the soap, spoke recently to Bullett about the uncertainty of the show’s future. “There’s always something new on the horizon,” he said in response to a question about his next project. “But right now, we don’t know if we’re coming back or not for 90210. We’re kind of in this limbo area…I think if we are back for season six, there’s gonna be some major changes that take place for the characters.”
Alas, fans will never know what changes the writers may have had in store, but there’s still plenty of drama left before the series ends. Michael Jackson’s son Prince Michael Jackson is set to make his acting debut on the finale, and the recently reunited Fall Out Boy will perform on an April episode.
Matt Lanter isn’t the only 90210 star with a wedding in the works!
The actor’s costar, Shenae Grimes, is engaged to British model and musician Josh Beech, multiple sources confirm to Us Weekly.
Grimes, 23, and Beech, 24, began dating in the spring of 2012. The two are planning to tie the knot in England sometime next year, according to one insider.
“Josh couldn’t see himself being with anyone else so he asked her and she is over the moon about it,” a pal tells Us of their engagement. “They fell for each other hard and since they’ve met, they talk non-stop. If they’re not around each other, they’re texting, calling and tweeting back and forth all the time.”
Grimes is currently shooting the fifth season of 90210; the CW hit recently aired its 100th episode, which featured guest stars Carmen Electra, Taio Cruz and Denise Richards. In addition to modeling for brands like Burberry, Just Cavalli and Levi’s 501 Jeans, Beech also designs a line of T-shirts with his friend, Sam Kent.
With Halloween less than two weeks away, do you have your costume picked out? Shenae Grimes does! The 90210 star is going as Monster High’s Frankie Stein in a ghoulish getup designed by Project Runway’s Chris March. The actress gave us the inside scoop on her look, as well as answered all of our burning personal style questions.
First things first, tell us about your Halloween costume!
My costume is loosely inspired by the Monster High doll Frankie Stein, so I’m going to be incorporating a few of her different looks. Chris March has done this unbelievable, super glamorous Halloween party look for me. I’ll have the green skin and stitches on my face and all that fun stuff, but the outfit is going to be a bit of a departure from Frankie’s day-to-day Ghouls Rule look. It’s a hyper glam version.
Why did you choose to dress like Frankie?
Monster High is pretty much like the coolest series of dolls I’ve ever seen. I’m a witchy Goth on the inside, so it’s sort of been like my dream doll since I was a kid. The girls just look so cool. They’re so fashionable, different, and quirky, — it’s all about embracing freaky flaws and not doing that that uber-perfection thing that is often projected to young girls. I think it’s a really great message.
What are your favorite costumes from years past?
My favorite one was the one I wore last year. Me and my two girlfriends did zombified Disney princesses. I was a bloody, zombie-like, white-faced Belle from Beauty and the Beast, and they did Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella.
Do you have any Halloween styling tips?
Finding the perfect balance between your ghoulish self and your glamorous self is the key. It can be hard! It’s not great to go too far in either direction. It’s Halloween, so you’ve got to play and have fun and channel all of that fantasy that we don’t see every day, but also keep it sophisticated and fashion-forward. That’s what will make you stand out in a crowd.
We’d also like to know about your non-Halloween look. How would you describe your personal style?
It’s pretty eclectic. I think I’m a little bit of a tomboy, though I have pretty classic taste nowadays. I used to want to wear the most ridiculous things I could find at the flea market that I would never see on anybody else, but now I’m more in tune with proper tailoring. I’m all about the silhouette and wearing flattering clothes for your figure, so that’s what I look for in an outfit. But I’m not really color savvy — I usually wear black, white, and gray.
Where do you like to shop, and what are your favorite brands?
Flea markets are still my favorite places to shop. As far as brands though, for jeans, I like Cheap Monday. I like Topshop and Zara. For higher-end brands, Helmut Lang is always my blazer go-to. They just make some impeccably cut blazers! I also love Stella McCartney for her suit jackets and Isabel Marant for a little bit more of a girly flare.
What’s on your wardrobe wishlist?
I need a new bag — I always wear them out. I basically find one bag that I love to death, and then I wear it every single day and every single night, so literally the straps are falling off. I’m in that position right now, and I’m in need of a new one. I’ve been carrying around the Alexander Wang bucket-style bullet stud bag for probably six months, but it’s literally falling off my arm.
Who’s your style icon?
It’s a mix of Steven Tyler and Sienna Miller. I love Steven with his crazy velvet outfits and leathers, and I think Sienna always looks perfectly put together even when she rolls out of bed to run an errand.
What do you consider your best red carpet moment?
I really like the outfit that I wore on Fashion Police. I know that wasn’t really red carpet, but for me that was the ultimate appearance because it was Fashion Police! I needed to make sure it was something that wouldn’t get me make fun of later. I wore something from a friend of mine’s company. It was her debut collection for Houghton, and it was an all-cream look, which I rarely do. I’m usually in all black, so it was a bit out of my comfort zone, but it was just really clean lines, really beautiful. Joan Rivers made me get up and do a little 360 spin, so I knew I did okay.
Do you have any dress disasters you’d care to share?
Way too many to even count! The one that was the worst was this multi-colored sequined dress with calf-high fishnet socks and awful geriatric platforms that were not cute and an outrageous leather jacket with insane shoulders. It was just too, too much all around. It was not one of my prouder moments.
How would you compare your style to Annie’s style on 90210?
It’s pretty different. I think Annie’s a little more refined, a little more cutesy, a little more girly. Her taste has definitely gotten more inspired by mine as I’ve had more input in the wardrobe the past couple seasons. Everyone seems to be liking that, which is really great. This means longer dresses, a darker palette, a lot of crop tops — I love crop tops with high-waisted things. It’s definitely taken a little bit of a Shenae spin, but the colors are still a little more bright and feminine than I wear.
What is it like being able to see your teen self on reruns of Degrassi?
It’s weird, I guess! It’s not like I’ve really known anything else, so I don’t even think about it. I was orange for a greater part of my teen years, so that’s hilarious to look back on. Stay away from self-tanner, ladies — it’s never a good thing! My style has definitely evolved since then. Like I mentioned, I used to want to stand out more and didn’t pay as much attention to fit. It was more about finding unique pieces then, and as you get older, your body changes and you become a woman. You want to look a little more put together.
And lastly, what are your fall must-haves?
It’s still really boiling hot in LA! I’m wearing a blazer right now, and I’m sweating. But fall must-haves for me are always grandpa sweaters. I stock up on grandpa sweaters from flea markets. I love those kind of wooly knits with fun cottage-y prints.
90210’s Shenae Grimes has joined with DoSomething.org for a very special initiative.
“Ever wonder what it’s like to be inside a video game?” asks Shenae in a video explaining DoSomething.org’s new Hunt initiative. “Fun… but in the end, all the points don’t add up to much. Now, what if you could play a game in which what you do really counts? This summer, DoSomething.org, Lenovo and Bing are teaming up to bring you The Hunt. For 11 days, we’ll be texting you clues on how you can make a real difference in your community. Complete a mission, and you could win a brand new Ultrabook. The team with the most points has the chance to win a trip to LA for the Do Something Awards.”
When 90210 premiered in 2008, Annie Wilson (Shenae Grimes) prided herself on staying true to her Midwestern values. How times have changed!
During the series’ fourth season, Annie became an escort who later seduced a priest named Caleb (Robert Hoffman) — a far cry from the wide-eyed transfer student she once was.
“Playing Annie this season was really hard for me because I had zero connection to her storyline whatsoever,” Grimes, 22, admitted to Us Weekly at The CW Up Front event in NYC Thursday.
“To me, it seemed really off-base that my character would even be behaving that way, because she does come from a pretty solid family and there was never any mention of her reaching out to her parents at all for money or anything,” Grimes lamented. “I mean, they had a house in Beverly Hills, her mom’s living in Paris — it’s not like they’re broke! So I couldn’t really wrap my head around the thought process behind what was going on, so that made it difficult.”
But fans of 90210 needn’t worry — Grimes is glad the series will return for a fifth season this fall on The CW. “Fortunately the actors who I was working with were amazing, so they kind of helped me connect.”
Grimes also revealed that she hopes Annie reconnects romantically with Matt Lanter’s Liam Court, despite the fact that he recently hooked up with Jessica Stroup’s Erin Silver.
“I honestly would love to see Annie and Liam back together. Don’t tell Jessica Stroup that I said that, but I was very jealous! I was like, ‘Come on!’ because the fans love it so much,” Grimes told Us. “I don’t know why, because me and Matt are such bros, so we don’t even think that we have the kind of chemistry that everybody else thinks we do.”
Grimes added: “He’s such an amazing guy to hang out with on set .and he’s been the best influence on [Annie] so far, I think. . . it seems like a safe bet.”
